What are the “works” articulated in Matthew 7:21-23?

2) did we not “cast out demons in your name?” Casting out demons is NOT a lawless work if it is performed in the Name of Jesus via the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit given to all who believe in Jesus as Messiah (Ephesians 1:13-14).
3) did we not “do many mighty works in your name?” Working and dedicating oneself to the ministry of Elohim in the divine Name of Jesus is NOT a lawless work if it is done with a pure motive via FAITH through the indwelling Holy Spirit.
Therefore, we must logically conclude that the works of these rejected by Jesus in Matthew 7:21-23 were not lawless on their face but lawless because they were done void the Holy Spirit and were therefore done in the flesh under girded by self-righteous motives apart from FAITH.
Jesus confirmed the self-righteous nature of the works performed by clearly telling those who were rejected that “I never knew you, depart from me you workers of lawlessness.”Therefore, it is COVENANT RELATIONSHIP, the ABSENCE of same, that is the focal point of Messiah’s teaching and NOT quality of work done!

The codified Law you worship, Sinai-Torah-Moses, were both temporary and incomplete and are of no consequence concerning righteousness with the Father or life in the New Jerusalem; Sinai-Torah-Moses were simply eschatological roadmaps pointing to the need for Messiah Jesus by faith (Galatians 3:24); therefore, it is high time that you leave the bygone Covenant of Law (Hebrews 8:7) and find life in the New Covenant of Grace through faith Jesus as your Messiah and the indwelling Holy Spirit as your obedience to the Father’s will via the production of divine fruit (2 Corinthians 3; Galatians 5:16-23; Matthew 7:15-20).

Human pride and a desire for self-worth and relevance clouds, is a stumbling block, to understanding Elohim’s eschatological objectives for the temporary Realm of Time, a physical realm constrained by physics. Human Kind does not possess the cognitive capacity to comprehend the love, intimacy, cherished relationship, that exists between Elohim and His beautiful angelic creation.
Human Kind is an entity of relevance concerning Elohim’s restoration of holiness and order and peace to His eternal Kingdom that was disrupted by a rebellious cherub angel, the Great Kingdom War that is causation for the Genesis creation narrative, the construction and Triune collaboration concerning the creation of the complex human genome.
Human Kind places a distant second in Elohim’s eschatological priorities but Elohim has chosen to provide compassion and grace and mercy to those through whom He is currently employing as instruments of an unfathomable eschatological plan that is centered, acutely focused, upon maintaining volitional love and intimacy with His cherished angelic creation, those faithful angels that did not follow Satan in the rebellion.
Eschatology must be fulfilled,
Elohim’s eschatological will must come to pass as the coming Tribulation Era will set the stage for the Millennial Kingdom of Messiah Jesus. The comprehensive peace that is realized during the Millennial Kingdom, an all-encompassing peace due Satan’s confinement apart from humanity for 1000-years (Revelation 20:2), will provide an irrefutable example, a comparison/contrast, for the faithful angelic creation, those angels that did not follow Lucifer in the rebellion, of why obedience to the Father’s will is vastly superior to rebellion, covetousness and defilement and self-righteousness.
The Millennial Kingdom’s universal peace will provide a stark comparison/contrast to the previous 6000-years of human horror, war, pestilence, death, suffering, unconscionable savagery, all led by, initiated by and rooted in the deception of Satan (John 8:44; Ephesians 6). This comparison/contrast will also act as a bulwark against future rebellion in the Kingdom.

Then, at the culmination of the 1000-year reign of Messiah, Satan will be released from confinement and will immediately proceed to deceive the Nations once again and the Nations will turn against Elohim and desire to engage in war but at this juncture Elohim will destroy His enemies by fire and immediately subsequent this final conflict (Revelation 20:7-9) the Judgment of Satan will manifest (Rev 20:10); then, the Judgment of the Condemned (Rev 20:11-15); then, the Earth and the Heavens will be destroyed by fire (a physical Hell for the rebellious of humanity 2 Peter 3:10), the old Earth will be purified, remolded, restructured, and a New Earth and New Heaven will manifest which will be the resting place, the eternal abode, of the New Jerusalem where the redeemed in Jesus will serve our resurrected Lord in resurrected bodies fashioned after His glorious body, eternally (Revelation 20-22; Philippians 3:21).

Sinai is but a fragmented, codified, version of the comprehensive Spiritual Law; the Spiritual Law that Elohim has employed as an arbiter of free will subsequent the creation of the angels. Sinai is beautiful and partially expresses Elohim’s holiness and divine expectations; much can be learned from Sinai, but Sinai is incomplete as it simply addresses Elohim’s concerns for Jacob’s children and their inevitable compromise with demonic paganism; specifically, the vile worship of Baal and Molech as demonstrated by the pagan tribes surrounding Jacob’s children that relentlessly sought Israel’s compromise.

The Law that governs the New Covenant is the same Spiritual Law that has been relevant as an arbiter of free will subsequent the creation of the angels (Romans 2:14-15). The Decalogue, the Commandments given at Sinai, are but a mere fragment of the Spiritual Law and thus they are wholly insufficient for attaining righteousness (a right standing) with Elohim. Why can’t you understand that Sinai was given Israel for sanctification and eschatological purposes for a special time and dispensation but Sinai is NOT the destination; Sinai and Torah and Moses were simply an eschatological roadmap to the Messiah and the New Covenant, the Gospel and the Great Commission. Jesus as Messiah was and is the “Destination.”

It is the indwelling Holy Spirit, as the Arbiter of that Spiritual Law (Galatians 5:16), who employs the redeemed conscience and thereby produces “fruits of righteousness” that fulfills ALL LAW (Galatians 5) – this New Covenant obedience being infinitely superior to the Old Law Covenant’s Sinai and Mosaic Laws that mandated perfection (James 2:10) from a sin-nature that could never comply (Romans 3:23; 5:12) and “cursed” all who sought that Law for righteousness with Elohim (Galatians 3:10).
Why is this New Covenant so difficult for you and those of you who can’t understand Elohim’s eschatological purposes that are infinitely greater than Sinai, Israel, Moses, Torah? These were simply a “tutor” to point Jacob’s children to their need for an Intercessor by faith (Galatians 3:24) and the Christian’s “tutor” is the Holy Spirit, NOT the Law Covenant (1 John 2:27)!
