The Commandments, as given the Hebrew Tribes, could never bring righteousness through atonement as the Law only defined sin and condemned men and women to death in Hell (Romans 3) because righteousness through obedience to the Law can only manifest through perfect obedience and to violate one jot or tittle of the Law is to violate the whole Law (James 2:10); therefore, mankind, who is a sinner by nature (Romans 3:23) can never find righteousness (a right standing) with God the Father through the Law because we’re unable to keep the Law perfectly – but – God the Father, “before the beginning of Time” (1 Timothy 1:10), ordained a Plan known as The Gospel (Good News) (Genesis 3:21) through which He would provide mankind the opportunity to find righteousness with Him through the atonement of sin by the shedding of innocent blood and in doing so, God would “destroy the works of the Devil” (1 John 3:8b) through the perfection of the Son, Jesus Christ, who would enter Time through the womb of a virgin woman (Genesis 3:15) and bypass the sin-nature transferred by the man, Adam (Romans 5:12; 1 Corinthians 15:21) and live a perfect, sinless life, and keep the Commandments and the 613-Levitical Laws in perfection (Mt. 5:17) thereby making Himself the ONLY acceptable sacrifice for sin (2 Corinthians 5:21; John 14:6).

When Jesus – Yeshua shed His innocent blood on Golgotha (Mt. 26:28), God the Father declared that His Son’s blood is the ONLY thing He will accept as atonement for your sin (Hebrews 10), my sin (John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 5:21), and the blood of Messiah atones for past-present-future sin as our sins that are forgiven by the blood of Christ are cast into the sea of forgetfulness forever (Hebrews 8:12) and the perfection of Jesus Christ is imputed over the life of the one who believes (2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 4:6-7). In fact, anyone who trusts in the blood of Yeshua-Jesus for atonement and repents of sin (Luke 13:3), believes in their heart that Jesus died for them; that is, for the forgiveness of their sin and that He was resurrected for their justification (Romans 10:9-10), they will receive the Gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit as the Seal and Guarantor of relationship with God, forever (Ephesians 1:13-14).

The one who trusts in Jesus as Lord is secure in our Lord forever and no one, nothing, will ever snatch them out of His hand or the hand of the Father (John 10:28-30; Jude 1:24). The one who has entered into relationship with God the Father by grace through faith in Jesus as Lord has received a New Nature through the Spirit and no longer desires to sin against God and when they do sin (Romans 7), they seek forgiveness (1 John 1:9), NOT to reestablish their salvation but they seek forgiveness to reestablish intimacy with our Lord as sin fractures intimacy and the greatest Gift of the Christian Life is the peace and joy in relationship with God through fellowship with the indwelling Holy Spirit (Romans 5:1; Philippians 4:7; John 14:27).

So then, the Law demonstrates the righteousness of God as it defines sin and the Law also demonstrates our inability to earn our own forgiveness-atonement-salvation through attempted obedience to said Law and the Law demonstrates our need for an Intercessor between our sin and God the Father (1 Timothy 2:5). The Law cannot save mankind and anyone who seeks righteousness through the Law will be condemned at Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15) because they have rejected God’s Way to life (John 14:6) in eternity by grace (unmerited favor) through faith (trusting-believing) in Jesus Christ, alone (Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Corinthians 5:21).

Jesus Christ-Yeshua died for the sins of the World and God the Father sent Him to the World through Israel; Israel (Genesis 12:3) is the vessel by which Messiah entered Time through the womb of a virgin woman who is the child of Israel through the Tribe of Judah. Israel is beloved by the Father but Israel rejected their Messiah and demanded that His blood be upon them and their children (Matthew 27:25); therefore, God has taken His Covenants and Promises to the Gentiles until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in (Romans 11:25) and only a remnant of Israel will be saved due to their stubbornness and hardness of heart (Isaiah 10:22; Romans 9:27).

If you are a Jew, a child of Israel, you have no cause to boast but you should humble yourself for the travesty of your forefathers and break-away from the veil of unbelief (2 Corinthians 3:15) and turn to Yeshua today as your God and Savior and pray for God’s mercy and grace upon your life and the life of your family (John 3:16).

Sabbath Keepers v. Sunday Worshipers

Concerning the sects, cults, legalists, pharisees, Sabbath keepers, Judaizers, who insist that Christians must observe the Sabbath as opposed to Sunday as a day of worship; I have some questions for you…

1) Do you not find it odd that Moses, the writer of the Genesis by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the same man of God who received the Commandments on Sinai and recorded the 613-Levitical Laws as given specifically to the children of Israel, this same Moses has noted God’s command to Adam to care for the Garden, to cultivate it, to keep it, yet not one word concerning a Sabbath’s rest for Adam and Adam’s posterity (Genesis 2:15)? Was not every man and woman from Adam forward constrained by the Law of Conscience as mentioned by Paul in Romans 2:15?

2) Do you not find it odd that Noah was a righteous man, blameless before the Lord and that God destroyed the entire human population save Noah and seven of his family and Noah sacrificed to the Lord yet not one word concerning a Sabbath’s rest? Consider this, even the Jewish tradition of the extra-biblical Noahide Laws allegedly (by tradition) given to Adam and Noah did not articulate a Sabbath’s edict,

1. Do not profane God’s Oneness in any way.

2. Do not curse your Creator.

3. Do not murder.

4. Do not eat a limb of a living animal.

5. Do not steal.

6. Harness and channel the human libido.

7. Establish courts of law and ensure justice in our world.

3) Do you not find it odd that Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness (Genesis 15:6) because God exclaimed that Abraham “…obeyed Me and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My laws” (Genesis 26:5) yet not one word concerning a Sabbath’s rest? Many inquire concerning the commandments and statutes and laws of God given to Abraham, possibly the Noahide Laws (?), but we know that these were not duplicates to the Commandments given Moses on Sinai or the 613-Levitical Laws as there would be no need for redundancy yet again, no precedent for Abraham ever having observed a Sabbath’s rest.

4) Do you not find it odd that the Patriarchy of the Jewish Nation i.e. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, were never given a Sabbath edict nor is there Scriptural precedent for these men of God having observed a Sabbath?

5) Do you not find it odd that the Sabbath edict and the entire Law of Moses was given ONLY to the children of Israel and converts to Judaism and NEVER was said edict given to the Gentile Nations yet far too many today aggressively and legalistically demand that the Sabbath be observed by Christian Gentiles and Messianic Jews who choose to worship on Sunday via their freedom in Christ?

6) Do you not find it odd that Jesus Christ refused to obey the Pharisaical edicts concerning the Sabbath and violated these edicts in their presence (Luke 6:1-11) as Jesus exclaimed that He is the Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8) and that the Sabbath was made for man – not man for the Sabbath (Mark 2:27)?

7) Do you not find it odd that even though Jesus articulated “I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.” (John 10:16), that Jesus never commanded that the Gentiles keep the 613-Levitical Laws, the 10-Commandments nor was there any emphasis on the Sabbath edict for the Gentile?

8) Do you not find it odd that when Jesus was questioned by teachers of the Law relevant to the Greatest Commandment in the Law Jesus replied,

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:36-40

Yet, no mention of the Sabbath Day edict?

9) Do you not find it odd that when the early Church had been initiated by the Holy Spirit, subsequent to Messiah’s Ascension, that the Apostles were confronted by the Pharisees who demanded that Gentile Proselytes in the Church be circumcised and obey the Law of Moses yet the Apostles opted to convene the Jerusalem Council (Acts 15) and by inspiration of God the Holy Spirit, the Jerusalem Council decided that the Gentiles were not to be burdened with the Law of Moses as even the children of Israel were not able to keep the Law and that the Gentiles should only be commanded to obey the following,

“For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements: 29 that you abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Farewell.” Acts 15:28-29 (ESV)

In addition to the Jerusalem Council, we read the following from the Apostle Paul concerning ceremonial days and relevant edicts and a Christian’s freedom in Christ,

“5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.

10 Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11 for it is written,

“As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,

and every tongue shall confess to God.”

16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. Colossians 2:16-17 (ESV)

Conclusion of the matter,

If anyone who trusts in Jesus Christ as Lord desires to worship on the Sabbath or observe the Sabbath’s rest and ordinances, they are free in Jesus Christ to do so with the knowledge that such observance does NOT establish righteousness (a right standing) with God the Father (Ephesians 2:8-9). God is not a God of a day but God is a God of the heart and His concern is intimate relationship with those who trust in the Son, Jesus Christ as Lord for the mediation of sin (John 6:40).

Every born-again Christian walking-out their sanctification in the Spirit is FREE to worship any day or every day they choose to honor our Lord and His goodness. NO ONE possesses the authority or the right to condemn a Christian for worshiping on Sunday or any day they so choose and to judge a Christian for worshiping on Sunday is legalism, Pharisaical heresy and an insult to the grace and mercy earned for us at the Crucifixion by Jesus Christ who is our Sabbath’s rest (Hebrews 4); Jesus Christ is the end of the Law concerning righteousness (Romans 10:4); therefore, the Christian no longer struggles or labors in the Law of Moses seeking to find justification and righteousness in a Law that only defines sin and condemns one to death but the Christian finds life in the Spirit given to all who believe that Jesus is God and Mediator for our sin (Romans 3:4-6; Ephesians 1:13-14).

The Covenant of Grace in Jesus Christ will remain valid until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in (Romans 11:25) at which Time Messiah will initiate His Millennial Reign and the Law of Moses will find relevance among the Millennial Jews in that dispensation (Ezekiel 45 & 46).

Second, Jesus fulfilled the Sabbath for us (Hebrews 4) and the Commandments and the 613-Levitical Laws were given SPECIFICALLY to the children of Israel…NOT the GENTILES. Gentiles, from Adam forward, have been under the Law of Conscience (Romans 2:15) and the Gentiles, regardless of whether or not they’ve ever seen a Bible, intuitively knows that murder, rape, theft, homosexuality, are wrong as God has written His moral law upon our heart at conception.

The Law of Moses-the Commandments were given and known to a mere fraction of humanity and God articulated the Law to Moses for His purposes through the Abrahamic Covenant…NOT for the Gentiles other than the promises made in Genesis 12:3 concerning blessing Israel and all the families of the Earth as blessed in Messiah. I do wish you Sabbath keepers and Torah-Law keepers would mind your own business and allow those who trust in Jesus Christ and honor the indwelling Holy Spirit to live our lives in Jesus and in the freedom and grace and in the peace He offers to those who trust in Him as Lord (John 14:27).

If you desire to keep the Sabbath and the Law…free will granted you by our Lord allows you to do that very thing but don’t mandate that others follow you and bear a burden that Jesus never intended for the Gentiles who trust in Him as Lord to bear. Please, mind your own business (Romans 14)?

Jesus Christ entered the Realm of Time for the sole purpose of “destroying the works of the Devil” (1 John 3:8b). Jesus was commissioned by the Father (John 3:35) to take elements from the unseen Spiritual World and fashion those elements into matter that can be apprehended by life constrained by Time and physics (Hebrews 11:3) and subsequently create the Heavens and the Earth with rapidity in six-literal 24-hour days (John 1; Colossians 1; Genesis 1).

The Heavens and the Earth were created in direct response to the coup d’état initiated by a rebellious cherub angel in the Kingdom of God (Ezekiel 28:11+; Isaiah 14) and God the Father extricated this rebellious angel from the Kingdom where nothing impure is permitted to exist (Rev. 12; Luke 10:18; Rev. 21:27) and placed him upon the Earth at which time Elohim proclaimed a declaration of war between the rebellious angel and the virgin born Son, Jesus Christ (Genesis 3:15); therefore, Jesus entered Time to defeat the works of the Devil for you and for me i.e. death, Hell, the grave while God demonstrates the horror of sin and disobedience to the faithful angelic creation in the Kingdom. That war is presently observed in Time manifesting between Islam-Allah (Satan) and Israel.

For all intents and purposes, had Lucifer not rebelled in the Kingdom of God and introduced sin into same (Revelation 21:27), it is most probable that God would have never created the Heavens and the Earth, our human genome and subsequently tolerated 6000-years of an obstinate, sinful, stubborn, people (Genesis 6:5).
