An Inordinate Obsession with LAW in the New Covenant – Why?

So many well intentioned men and women fail to understand the simplicity of New Covenant grace and how Elohim the Father has structured obedience in the New Covenant; this, not through striving after letters, laws, diets, feasts, traditions (Romans 6:14) but walking in unison with the indwelling Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16; Romans 7:6) who produces divine fruit through the redeemed in Jesus (Galatians 5:16-23) and that fruit fulfills the intent of ALL moral law (Galatians 5:23); that divine fruit actually pleases the Father; that fruit proves one to be a faithful disciple of Jesus (John 15:8).

Truly, I do believe that the obsession with law keeping is under girded by man’s inability to fundamentally accept the divine gift of grace (unmerited favor – a divine gift of forgiveness that cannot be earned) through faith (trusting in Jesus as Messiah) as mankind’s ego insists that one must do something, perform a work, in order to please Elohim (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 4:4-5; Galatians 2:16); this, when all Elohim the Father desires is that human kind “believe” in the Son (John 6:29) and humbly walk daily by the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16) in sanctification and allow the Spirit to do HIS work through them (John 15:8); this, trusting in the “work” Jesus performed at Golgotha. Jesus clearly said, “You will know them by their fruit” (Matthew 7:16) and NOT by their law-keeping (Matthew 7:21-23). Why is this so difficult to understand for far too many?

In closing, the Commandments of Sinai, the Laws of Moses, the divine Spiritual Law (Romans 2:14-15) are NOT the focus of the New Covenant as the Law Giver in the Covenant of Grace is the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14) and the intent, the elements, of all LAW is honored through the Spirit’s production of divine fruit through the redeemed in Jesus as the Spirit directs the redeemed conscience, the “new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17), in the Path of Righteousness and Obedience via the production of that divine fruit (Galatians 5:16-23). In the New Covenant, we serve the Holy Spirit, not Moses!
