Question was asked: “If religion disappears tomorrow, will you still be a good person?
Christian response,
“goodness” is a response to the Holy Spirit’s anointing and the Holy Spirit does not deal with “religion” but He is a New Covenant promise to the one who believes that Jesus is Messiah who died for them.
Religion is based on working or striving, personal effort, to be sufficiently good to earn a “gods” favor…Christianity is the realization that man is sinful and can never be sufficiently “good” to earn forgiveness from God. Christianity teaches that only by trusting in a “good” God can one find life through faith in Jesus. Jesus is the only “Way” to the Father (John 14:6) and forgiveness of sin (1 Peter 1:18-19; Acts 4:12).
