Law Keeping in pursuit of righteousness leading to eternal life is futility and self-deception. Responding to the Jewish Law Keeper living in a Covenant that only condemns the soul to Hell. The blindness, the veil, concerning Israel in the New Covenant…
As I said, the Sinai Commandments were given solely to the children of Israel and converts to Judaism that desired to become part of that “religion.” The Decalog and the 613-Levitical edicts manifest in response to Israel’s sin (Galatians 3:19). There is NOTHING new or novel concerning the moral law contained in the Decalog or the Levitical Laws but the Decalog simply articulated what God expected of the people through whom He would bring forth His Messiah, perform His works of eschatology and a people who were to be His representatives to a lost and dying World.
2) Yes, only doers of the Law will be justified (Romans 2:13) but who are doers of the Law? NO ONE but Messiah!!! The Law mandated perfection as per Moses (Leviticus 18:5; Romans 10:5); hence, the inability of mankind to attain righteousness through the Law because all of mankind is under the condemnation of sin (Romans 3:23; Isaiah 53:6) and to violate one-jot or one-tittle of the Law is to be guilty of violating the whole Law (James 2:10); therefore, the Law, both the Decalog and the Levitical Laws, could never provide righteousness but ONLY condemn as these Laws defined sin void atonement. The Covenant of Law was NOTHING more than a sign-post pointing to Messiah who would not only fulfill the Law (Matthew 5:17) but conquer death, Hell and the grave for everyone who believes. The Covenant of Law was impotent to save the soul from God’s wrath for sin (Romans 8:3).
Even on your very best day, your attempts at good works or attempts to keep the Law are as a filthy, bloody, menstrual cloth in the nose of God (Isaiah 64:6); it is NOT until we Covenant with the Father by grace through faith in Jesus Christ as our God and Mediator for sin that our works of righteousness done through the indwelling Holy Spirit have meaning and purpose and accountability for Eternity…YOU CANNOT FIND RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD THROUGH THE LAW (Romans 3:20; Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:8-9)!!! It is our works of righteousness SUBSEQUENT to our confession of Jesus as Lord that authenticates and validates our confession as true and binding in Covenant with the Father.
3) 1 Peter is written to a Jewish audience, NOT the Gentile…and the moral aspects of the Torah ARE RELEVANT as they are reiterated in some form in Messiah’s Laws that are administered by the Holy Spirit during the process of sanctification relevant to everyone who believes in Jesus as Lord. The Christian IS NOT UNDER LAW BUT UNDER GRACE AND LIVES IN OBEDIENCE TO THE HOLY SPIRIT AND NOT TO A LAW ETCHED IN STONE OR SCRATCHED ON PARCHMENT (Romans 6:14).
4) Christianity is the completion, fulfillment, of Judaism as Christianity provides atonement for sin that Judaism only pointed to but could NOT provide as the Covenant of Law only CONDEMNED void atonement as the Covenant of Law only defined sin but provided no access to forgiveness (Romans 3:20); therefore, the Covenant of Law was incomplete, inferior, to the New Covenant of Grace through Faith in Messiah who is our Atonement and Intercessor for sin (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 10). The Covenant of Law has faded away (2 Corinthians 3) and its usefulness in the Covenant of Grace is null and void until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. Jesus will revive the Law in His Millennial Reign as He will receive the Kingdom denied Him during His first-advent…but that Law will be relevant to the remnant of Jews saved through the Tribulation who serve Yeshua-Jesus in the Kingdom in Jerusalem.
5) The New Covenant was made with Israel but THEY REJECTED IT AND THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL MURDERED THEIR MESSIAH UPON A TREE AND DEMANDED THAT HIS BLOOD BE UPON THEM AND THEIR CHILDREN; THEREFORE, THE COVENANT OF GRACE WAS TAKEN FROM THE CHILDREN OF JACOB AND GIVEN TO THE GENTILES UNTIL THE TIME OF THE GENTILES BE FULFILLED (Matthew 27:25; Romans 11:25). If you trust in the Law of Moses or the Decalog as per a works salvation, you will die in sin (John 8:24) and you will not be named among the remnant of Israel that will be saved in the last days (Isaiah 10:22; Romans 9:27) but you will accompany the majority of Israel that will die in sin and die in Hell in rejection of Messiah Yeshua as God and Mediator for sin.If you trust in the Law for righteousness and eternal life you will die in your sin and die in Hell (John 8:24) because the Law only condemns you and cannot save you (Romans 3:20).
Only by trusting in Yeshua-Jesus as your God and Mediator for your sin by “faith” will you find life in the Kingdom through the imputation of Messiah’s perfection-righteousness over your life (2 Corinthians 5:21)! You cannot earn your salvation (Ephesians 2:8-9); obedience to a Law will not manifest in righteousness leading to eternal life (Colossians 2:16)…only by humbling yourself, repenting of your sin (Luke 13:3) and sincerely trusting in Jesus as Lord will you find grace sufficient to forgive your sin and open the Door to eternal life (John 3:16-18; John 10:9). It is the one who “believes” that is justified, NOT the one who works (Romans 4:5).
