Though regulated Federally to a relatively quiet 80dB(A) via the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 40 CFR, LOUD motor vehicle noise abuse is pervasive throughout the United States. What can be done to force/coerce State and Local administrations and enforcement entities to STOP the vehicular noise that destroys human health and welfare, destroys daily quality of life, bullies our most innocent in society?
Mayors, Governors, County Commissioners, Municipal Councils, prostitute themselves with the LOUD biker cult[ure] via biker rallies…rallies that invite vehicular NOISE thugs into a municipality…vehicular NOISE that destroys daily quality of life and neglectfully endangers the health and welfare of tax-paying citizens, those citizens whom these “representatives” swore an oath to protect and serve yet these “representatives” reject their oath in order to garner tax revenue, votes, financial benefits for the city and county coffers, revenue from the LOUD biker thugs and car show attendees, those who pollute said municipalities with unlawful and dangerous NOISE. Why is this permitted? Why are these “representatives” not impeached and removed from office for misfeasance or malfeasance, graft?

During my 31-year tenure with the Houston PD, I served the citizens of Houston as a Motorcycle Patrol Officer, Radio Patrol Officer and in Air Support.
During my enforcement years, I cited, incarcerated, untold numbers of “men” who operated illegally LOUD motorcycles, auto’s, trucks, on our public roadways and these, with intent and some in ignorance, audibly abused the children, the elderly, the handicapped, the families, living and seeking a good daily quality of life, those who lived and worked in my areas of responsibility.
Furthermore, I’ve never understood why and how city leaders, mayors, of some of our largest municipalities in the United States e.g., Daytona, FL are permitted to whore themselves for tax revenue, graft, money, with the LOUD Biker Cult[ure] via illegal biker rallies; this, while the citizens of these municipalities are audibly assaulted day and night with illegal vehicular NOISE…these same citizens are the people, the families, these “mayors” took an oath to protect and serve.

(5) NOISE ABATEMENT EQUIPMENT MODIFICATIONS.—
(a) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle or any other noise-abatement device of a motor vehicle operated or to be operated upon the highways of this state in such a manner that the noise emitted by the motor vehicle is above that emitted by the vehicle as originally manufactured.
(b) No person shall operate a motor vehicle upon the highways of the state with an exhaust system or noise-abatement device so modified.
I’ve never understood why a man or woman would illegally modify a motor vehicle to emit illegal noise emissions in multiples (algorithmically) the legal, safe, total, noise emissions of 80dB(A) and do so absent care or concern.
To this very day, I remain baffled by those who ride and drive LOUD and think their behavior is somehow cool coupled with bravado when in reality, these are selfish bullies who abuse the innocent among us; essentially, domestic terrorists.
I’ve owned some 30-motorcycles since age 12 and I’ve accumulated hundreds-of-thousands-of-miles on those motorcycles, professionally and for pleasure. Why do far too many “men” find riding LOUD to be acceptable when Federal and State laws prohibit same specifically for the safety and quality of life of the American citizen?
Every “custom exhaust” that is not properly tested and labeled by the US EPA IS illegal. 99% of aftermarket exhausts do NOT conform to the noise suppression requirements of the EPA mandates as per the SAE J331a full throttle testing procedure. You might “mind your own business” with LOUD exhausts but you destroy the daily quality of life of those who live and thrive in our communities.
I hate bullies…those who abuse children, the elderly, our handicapped, our families, with illegal, intrusive, physiologically dangerous, NOISE. There is a reason the mufflers on street use motorcycles are regulated, labeled, carefully tested and total motorcycle noise emissions limited to a relatively quiet 80dB(A) and your arrogance and your narcissism and your selfishness and your LOUD cult don’t trump this fact.

Project boat requires passenger seating but helm area is rather cramped for space. I purchased two nice Springfield Marine pedestal seats off of “Market Place.” The pedestal base requires a two-stage drilling application for better security/placement. Let’s do this!
Thank you for acceptance into this motorcycling group. I have owned approximately 30-motorcycles since age 12 and accumulated hundreds-of-thousands-of-miles on motorcycles while riding professionally as a motorcycle officer, long distance touring as well as a daily commuter in Houston traffic.
Over the years, I have become increasingly concerned about an abusive and illegal group of “LOUD bikers” who have turned the once honorable sport of motorcycling into a form of “domestic terrorism” via the operation of an illegally modified or illegally equipped motorcycle that abuses, daily, our children, our elderly, our handicapped, our families, destroying daily quality with illegal motorcycle NOISE; illegal aftermarket exhausts like the Vance and Hines “Big Radius” illegally LOUD exhaust pictured on this group’s main page photo. Our naive society has become conditioned to this abusive, dangerous, LOUD motor vehicle plague as the general public is unaware of the physiological dangers of unregulated motor vehicle NOISE.
I would personally like to see those who abuse our society with illegal motorcycle, auto, truck, NOISE cited, incarcerated, their illegally equipped motorcycles, auto’s, trucks, impounded until same is returned to quiet OEM status as per the Federal Code of Regulations, CFR 40 Part 205, a relatively quiet 80dB(A), properly labeled. The attached article expresses my concern and provides a viable solution to the LOUD motor vehicle thuggery in the United States that is more accurately defined as “domestic terrorism.” Kudos and respect to those who ride legally, respectfully, honorably, with their OEM-quiet-factory installed mufflers.
Loud Pipes Save Lives (The Lie)
The impotent mantra often cited by the narcissist who abuses their fellow citizens with illegal motorcycle noise is “I ride LOUD because Loud Pipes Save Lives.” Personally, having owned some 30-motorcycles since age 12 and having ridden professionally for years, Loud Pipes Save Lives is a lie, it’s obfuscation for illegal, abusive, behavior as illegally loud exhausts make the rider less safe through exponentially increased rider fatigue; through inadvertently invoking a “fight or flight response” from adjacent operators of motor vehicles who make unpredictable avoidance maneuvers when startled by the illegal, intrusive, noise passing and white-lining under acceleration; also, the illegally loud exhausts stymie the warning sirens of approaching emergency motor vehicles creating a hazardous scenario for the motorcyclist as well as every motor vehicle operator, bicyclist, pedestrian, in their vicinity as they approach a busy intersection. For all intents and purposes, in order for LOUD exhausts on motorcycles to be effective for safety concerns, the exhaust would have to be pointed forward where 75%+ of motorcycle hazards exist; specifically, vehicles turning left into the path of the approaching motorcycle; therefore, bright colored clothing, operating with headlight on, wearing a DOT approved motorcycle helmet, are actual safety measures, not illegal NOISE.
