The Eternal Destination of those having died in body?
When one dies in body, they’re relegated to one of two destinations depending upon the personal choices made while constrained by Time and physics (Luke 16; 2 Corinthians 5:8).
1) Those who honor God the Father by trusting, believing, that the Son, Jesus our Messiah, died for them (John 6:29; John 3) and thereby paid the divine price for sin, death, and that by trusting in Jesus’ blood atonement they are saved by grace (unmerited favor) through faith…this person is instantaneously translated into the Spiritual Realm and into the presence of our Creator, fully conscious, keenly aware, awaiting the resurrection of the righteous and the reality of the New Jerusalem.
2) Those who die in body having rejected Jesus as Messiah are instantaneously relegated to the spiritual region/abode/realm of Sheol/Hades – Torments, fully aware and conscious, awaiting the resurrection of the condemned (John 5:29), the Great White Throne Judgment (Rev 20:11-15), where they will receive a resurrected body of corruption and stand before Jesus for adjudication concerning “works” done in the body (Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 2:16) during their time on Earth. These rebellious individuals will be adjudicated guilty of sin and consequently refused entrance into the Kingdom (Rev 21:27; 20;11-15) where they will ultimately suffer the “second death” in Hell…a point in eschatology running concurrently with the destruction of the current Heavens and Earth by fire (Rev 20-22).
